Delay isn't Denial....

May times in my life, I have thought that if things do not work the way I want them to, then it just was not the way it was supposed to be and perhaps, God was nat on my side. But as I have grown and had more 'experience', I have come to realize that, things do not always have to happen the way I want them to. When I pray and ask God for favor concerning something and it does not happen that instant, it does not mean that He did not hear me, it just means that He is in control.
God is control. His ways are not our ways, His thoughts are not our thoughts.
Things may seem to be going slow; but according to God, the timing is perfect. When we say that we surrender and give it all to God, we must mean it and really give it all to Him. Let Him take control.  Allow Him to orchestrate the plans and the miracles and you will never be disappointed.
Delay of your answers does not mean Denial... it just means that they are coming at the perfect time!

God is Here

Throughout my season in medical school, this whole year, I have come to realize that God is here. He is here with me everyday and very second. Sometimes, it did not seem like that at all. Being away from friends and family, it seemed like I was all alone, and I had to fight this battle myself.
It has been tough, and sometimes, quitting seemed like the best thing to do at that moment. Nothing else made sense, and I knew that the road only going to get harder, and narrower. But throughout those times, I have come to realize that God put this desire in me for a reason, and I know that He never gives us things that we cannot handle. All things work together for our good. To them that love God and are called according to His purpose.
God loves you and He has great plans for you. Nothing good comes easy, and sometimes we have to fight harder to show how much we want it. When I speak to other doctors and see how far they have come in their medical carrier, I noticed something interesting: no ones said that it was easy, but they all said that it was worth it...

New Life, New Opportunities

I know that it has been a long time, but you are not forgotten! Missed u a lot.
Started medical school last year and it has been a new walk in my life. I have come to know new things about myself and strengths and weaknesses that I never knew that I had. It has been a long road, and I am almost done! But God has been faithful and He has always been there for me. In the good and the bad, happy and sad times.
This has been a new life, a new journey, and I ready to embrace it!

Tick, tock...

This month has been a month of reflection for me because of crazy things that have happened this year. It has really made me think about how times goes by so fast. A year ago... wow! I can't even begin to say all the things that have happened and how I am grateful to God for His faithfulness and goodness.
I have heard that time flies when you are having fun. I agree... with the first part. Time flies, period. The clock is ticking- every second, every minute, every hour, every day counts. The past is gone. What matters is the present. It's all about now, because now affects now, and now affects the future.
Times is money, and so not only do we waste time when we waste time,we waste money as well...
24  hours in a day can be all that someone needs to make a difference in this world... and it can also be what someone to needs to destroy his or her life
What you choose to do with your time, good or bad, will be the harvest of your future...
Let us not end up being like Mignon McLaughlin who said: "There are whole years for which I hope I'll never be cross-examined, for I could not give an alibi."
What are you doing with your time????
The clock is ticking... tick...tock....

Good God, Bad God?

I know that in our lifetime, we have heard this question at least once "Why does God allow bad things to happen to good people?" For a long time, I couldn't answer this question. I couldn't answer this question for many reasons:
What do I say to a girl who asks me this question; a girl who was just raped by a gang of men who robbed her home?
What do I say to a child who just lost his parents in a car crash?
What do I say to a guy who just lost all of his house and job and is now living on the streets?
What do I say to a devout Christian who has been believing God for a healing miracle for the past decade?
How do I answer the persecution of Christians that are happening all over the world?
What answer do I give to a seventeen-year old prostitute who only knows to sell her body 'cos she was a victim of a sex trade since she was six years old?
Do all these bad things happen because because God allowed them to happen? Absolutely not!
Do all these bad things that happen negate God's goodness? NO!
God is still good, no matter the number of bad things that happen. He is a God that saves; He is still a God that heals; He is still a God that provides; He is still a Good God.
God never promised us an easy road for us, He promised us trials, tribulations, and evil days.
The most important thing God gave to any human being was the ability to choose; and through that, people make bad decisions that hurt other people.
I have come a conclusion that has helped me embrace all this: God is not just good because He keeps us alive and answers our prayers. He is good because although bad things happen, He is still able to turn them for our good: turn our mourning into dancing, trade His beauty for our ashes; turn our sorrow into joy.. He is still a GOOD GOD!

Mountain Movers

What is faith? I don't even know if I have the correct definition for it... because it is just a very complex and yet very simple thing. I read during my devotions this morning in Hebrews 11 that "faith is the substance of things hoped for, evidence of things not seen". Now that- as simple of a definition it is- still is a bit perplexing to me. Simplified version: believing in things you do not see, as though they existed. Still not simple enough... :) Faith is simply foolishness... Not foolishness in a bad sense, but to anyone else who doesn't understand and  sees from a distance, faith is foolishness.
I have heard a lot of Christians say, 'I do not have enough/much faith' or 'I don't think my faith is big/strong enough for God to intervene in my situation'. And all I can think of is Matthew 17:20 that says (in summary) 'If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can move mountains'... Now that is all I need!
Being a Christian, just accepting Jesus Christ in your life, takes a lot of faith.. Have you ever thought about it? The faith it required for you to believe in a God, that you have never seen (and for some, never heard His voice); or even to speak into the 'atmosphere' and believe that this invisible God has heard your prayers; or even believe that if you give you will receive back from Him in multiple ways; or even that the 'tongues' we speak are really languages of the Holy Spirit; or even that when you leave this earth you are going to spend eternity with Him? Wow! when I think about these simple things, I am encouraged that although I may not have 'big' faith like people in the Bible such as Abraham, David, Paul, Stephen and Peter, God can still use my little 'foolishness', as small as it is, to move my mountains!

The Hair Lesson

My hair has always been a problem.. Always!
The only time my hair has been my 'pride and joy' was when I was a little girl! When I tell my friends right now about how my hair used to be full, long and healthy, they laugh at me in disbelief..
Well for a long time I have been contemplating going natural 'cos I see that holding on my past glory has not done me any good for the past four years!
So after a long, long battle, I cut my hair...today! I and I feel relieved...
Well it took a while for this to happen... cos I still catch myself running my hands through my hair and I am still in a little shock when I pass by the mirror..
Anyway, I came back home and called my boyfriend, CJ, and started whining about how my hair made me look like a  little schoolgirl all over again.. And CJ, with the most amazing and loving heart just said "Sweetie, you still have your looks and your personality; your short hair does not make you any different". God bless his soul, he really is the best!
Anyway, it got me thinking, once again, on how I sometimes make the mistake of thinking that what I have on and what i wear determines who I am. I am not saying that you shouldn't look lovely when you dress, pleeeaaasssee do!
But CJ made a point, a very important point (and he continues to reassure in many ways): He loves me just the way I am.... God loves you just the way you are! beautiful, irresistible, gorgeous, phenomenal woman!
So CJ... if you read this blog... thank you for that lesson...  I love u!

Phenomenal Woman

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.

They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Incorruptible Beauty

So many times we look at people and judge or determine who they are just because of how they look. Before considering their personality and relationships with other people, we look at what they are wearing and how they look like.

Incorruptible beauty; beauty that can change the atmosphere in a room; beauty that makes people wonder who you are and what makes you different from others. Beauty that can be traded for ashes; beauty that does not depend on what you wear or what you have. That is what we should long for: one that cannot be given to us by men of this world, one that only God gives.

Beauty on the inside has to do with character, the way you comport yourself and most importantly, how you treat others around you. Soon, your inner beauty matches with what is on the outside. And when it does, that is what we call BEAUTIFUL. Beauty lies within; who we truly are and who God has created us to be. For we are fearfully and wonderfully made by God; He saw us and said "It Is Good". We are good, we are His workmanship, we are His artwork on a piece of canvas.
